ABOUT

The boundaries of the project are from the I-10/I-12 merge, westbound along I-10, to the College Drive exit ramp.

DOTD’s College Flyover project will make it safer and easier to access College Drive from westbound Interstates 10 and 12 in Baton Rouge.

The westbound College Drive exit is less than one mile from the I-10/I-12 merger, which carries 178,000 vehicles a day. The current I-10/I-12 interchange forces some vehicles to change lanes three times in that one-mile space to get to the College Drive exit.

This design-build project will change how all westbound traffic approaches the merger. I-12 westbound lanes will be rebuilt to the south, alongside the I-12 eastbound lanes.

Meanwhile, the I-10 westbound lanes and overpass will be adjusted to flyover the new I-12 lanes.

All of this shifting will give crews enough room to build a separate, two-lane ramp for the College Drive exit. This exit will be easily accessible to westbound traffic from I-10 and I-12. Through this configuration, vehicles will no longer have to weave through traffic to access the College Drive exit.

College Flyover is a design-build project, which is a faster and more efficient method of managing some large-scale projects.
